Hello guys and gals, here is a very quick battle reort from a couple of days ago which involved my Algoryn along with my best bud Andy's Boromites</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fdUgZCihdZk/VSl6sBopw2I/AAAAAAAADe4/c1k2kzsU1mA/s1600/2015%2B-%2B1" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fdUgZCihdZk/VSl6sBopw2I/AAAAAAAADe4/c1k2kzsU1mA/s1600/2015%2B-%2B1" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These are the forces chosen before the battle, both completely the same from the sample lists, one HQ, 2 squads of AI infantry for me and a squad each of gang fighters and a work gang for Andy, a mag repeater each and an X Launcher each. A nice even 5 dice game. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KRkZR_tlTCA/VSl6sNrjOkI/AAAAAAAADfQ/veClco_RbJc/s1600/2015%2B-%2B2" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KRkZR_tlTCA/VSl6sNrjOkI/AAAAAAAADfQ/veClco_RbJc/s1600/2015%2B-%2B2" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the board set up, lots of cover but still with decent fire corridors. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UeLqu1p0QR4/VSl6sBh3RBI/AAAAAAAADeQ/HaIYkn5bvP4/s1600/2015%2B-%2B3" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UeLqu1p0QR4/VSl6sBh3RBI/AAAAAAAADeQ/HaIYkn5bvP4/s1600/2015%2B-%2B3" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The troops start to move on the board, the odd pot shots start to cause pins on the Boromites and the Algoryn Mag repeater, and the respective X Launchers fire Scoot and Arc rounds. Scoot makes units move away from the area soup pounding the marker and Arc makes shots passing close to it potentially miss by arcing them away from the target. Antares has some really cool stuff in it already. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JBAvApgjcRs/VSl6sCnCUuI/AAAAAAAADfo/X2vwEB1-Kok/s1600/2015%2B-%2B4" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JBAvApgjcRs/VSl6sCnCUuI/AAAAAAAADfo/X2vwEB1-Kok/s1600/2015%2B-%2B4" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Look, Boromites. Shoot them!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uRaVYSn1vZY/VSl6sKiM8aI/AAAAAAAADfc/dd0vypJAl0g/s1600/2015%2B-%2B5" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uRaVYSn1vZY/VSl6sKiM8aI/AAAAAAAADfc/dd0vypJAl0g/s1600/2015%2B-%2B5" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Work Gang advancing by the circular silo is wiped out by devastatinly accurate shooting, whilst the Boromite Gang Fighter squad sprints across the gap between the silo and the tower block on the left of the pic, but are exhausted at the end and take a pin. ( in Antares you can move 5", run 10" or sprint for 15", but at the end of the move you must take an agility test and if you fail you take a pin)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iXQvnarpVGU/VSl6sHyVNfI/AAAAAAAADfE/8_99PYoWBc0/s1600/2015%2B-%2B6" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iXQvnarpVGU/VSl6sHyVNfI/AAAAAAAADfE/8_99PYoWBc0/s1600/2015%2B-%2B6" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There, in the distance. A Mag Repeater, kill it!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6_pwboV8Rs8/VSl6sHx6bCI/AAAAAAAADes/5HPhGIXdvJY/s1600/2015%2B-%2B9" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6_pwboV8Rs8/VSl6sHx6bCI/AAAAAAAADes/5HPhGIXdvJY/s1600/2015%2B-%2B9" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Boromite HQ squad is crippled by the Algoryn Mag repeater, only to be finished off by an AI squad. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9enQqjseC10/VSl6sAZGI9I/AAAAAAAADec/LjjiywiEqCk/s1600/2015%2B-%2B10" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9enQqjseC10/VSl6sAZGI9I/AAAAAAAADec/LjjiywiEqCk/s1600/2015%2B-%2B10" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On the Algoryn right flank an AI squad Gomes under fire by the Boromite mag repeater. As all the conditions were met the AI squad took a reaction test, passed it and were given a run order to get them from the open to cover, therefore denying the shot to the Boromites. In the following turn both Boromite support weapons were destroyed by long range fire and the outflanking AI unit on the right</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--Fpwcg_KVf4/VSl6sNoQLHI/AAAAAAAADf0/EX02euevqUQ/s1600/2015%2B-%2B11" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--Fpwcg_KVf4/VSl6sNoQLHI/AAAAAAAADf0/EX02euevqUQ/s1600/2015%2B-%2B11" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The final Boromite falls to pistol fire from the X Launcher team members and the game is over for the lumpy boys. Algoryn win!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There you go, I hope you have enjoyed my mini battle report, and I'm sure there'll be more to come. </div>

Jez's Algoryn <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hello everyone. Things have gotten a little quiet here recently, so I thought it's only fair to show you what we've been up to. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you have been following the Face Book 'Beyond the Gates of Antares' group you may have seen these already. For those who haven't or are saying "what on earth is Jez going on about"? here's a link to Warlords website that will explain it all. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
http://www.warlordgames.com/gates-of-antares/</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZN_hQAMXmzw/VSbpHnNwy_I/AAAAAAAADZQ/LgmoqmTWUOA/s1600/Algoryn%2B%2B-%2B1" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZN_hQAMXmzw/VSbpHnNwy_I/AAAAAAAADZQ/LgmoqmTWUOA/s1600/Algoryn%2B%2B-%2B1" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my Algoryn army. It's been a labour of love over the last few months as I've slowly been working away at adding new units to it ready for the big release later this year. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Currently the game is in beta testing, and I've played a few games now. I have to admit its a really good little game. The basics are built from the hugely successful Bolt Action game, but Antares is so much more than BA in space. I could talk for ages but that will have to wait for another article. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For now I'll show you the units I've finished and tomorrow night I'll be laying a game, so I'll do a little battle report to show you how it plays. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--LULZzBSmx4/VSbpHkpsCjI/AAAAAAAADZE/77nIUpPMRlk/s1600/Algoryn%2B%2B-%2B3" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--LULZzBSmx4/VSbpHkpsCjI/AAAAAAAADZE/77nIUpPMRlk/s1600/Algoryn%2B%2B-%2B3" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is an AI Infiltration Squad. Made up purely from female Algoryn you don't want to get on the bad side of these ladies. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-axlxZCWmlGc/VSbpHjkc1PI/AAAAAAAADZo/ahIYYqzoPgk/s1600/Algoryn%2B%2B-%2B4" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-axlxZCWmlGc/VSbpHjkc1PI/AAAAAAAADZo/ahIYYqzoPgk/s1600/Algoryn%2B%2B-%2B4" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a Mag Light Support. The equivalent of an MMG in BA. The little camera on the flight stand is a spotter drone. You'll notice a few of these dotted amount the army. They allow re rolls to hit, so they're a little useful. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-z6k2EEuy_EI/VSbpHjHwoZI/AAAAAAAADYc/xiXt2iwE6oA/s1600/IMG_2771.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-z6k2EEuy_EI/VSbpHjHwoZI/AAAAAAAADYc/xiXt2iwE6oA/s1600/IMG_2771.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The boss. The Algoryn leader along with two bodyguards, all armed with plasma carbines, a very good and versatile rifle. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HQvLqDSvkJ8/VSbpHgjxBrI/AAAAAAAADYc/4YfihzLC5Ug/s1600/IMG_2773.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HQvLqDSvkJ8/VSbpHgjxBrI/AAAAAAAADYc/4YfihzLC5Ug/s1600/IMG_2773.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is an AI team with X-Launcher. The equivalent of a BA mortar, it is capable of firing some funky different types of munitions. More on that in another article. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1yG_zIY_4K8/VSbpHqinYQI/AAAAAAAADYc/dggj_kse2zg/s1600/IMG_2775.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1yG_zIY_4K8/VSbpHqinYQI/AAAAAAAADYc/dggj_kse2zg/s1600/IMG_2775.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My favourite, the deadly Plasma Cannon. It makes things melt very effectively. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MyannIitkkc/VSbpHlXBvVI/AAAAAAAADZc/8Jsa8Qy7CcQ/s1600/Algoryn%2B%2B-%2B5" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MyannIitkkc/VSbpHlXBvVI/AAAAAAAADZc/8Jsa8Qy7CcQ/s1600/Algoryn%2B%2B-%2B5" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is an AI Assault Squad. Deadly in combat due to their wrist mounted Distort Spinners. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Don't say you weren't warned. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ar0xPCrtD3o/VSbpHnzB74I/AAAAAAAADY4/ojxZtI1QEc8/s1600/Algoryn%2B%2B-%2B2" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ar0xPCrtD3o/VSbpHnzB74I/AAAAAAAADY4/ojxZtI1QEc8/s1600/Algoryn%2B%2B-%2B2" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A Targeter Shard. These little drones make it easier for you to hit your target. Very useful when that unit you need gone is lodged firmly in cover</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GLT1mQx0h14/VSbpHiKtucI/AAAAAAAADYc/N3IuJ33uRPY/s1600/IMG_2757.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GLT1mQx0h14/VSbpHiKtucI/AAAAAAAADYc/N3IuJ33uRPY/s1600/IMG_2757.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KxLvznQAgSY/VSbpHtjIaII/AAAAAAAADYc/gDT2IzC5LPI/s1600/IMG_2763.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KxLvznQAgSY/VSbpHtjIaII/AAAAAAAADYc/gDT2IzC5LPI/s1600/IMG_2763.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z5lgbSJkL7k/VSbpHmWumEI/AAAAAAAADYc/JOxZCX9YMPE/s1600/IMG_2769.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Z5lgbSJkL7k/VSbpHmWumEI/AAAAAAAADYc/JOxZCX9YMPE/s1600/IMG_2769.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i0uUkPJ7fuE/VSbpHq2G_5I/AAAAAAAADYc/cI5521vkNNo/s1600/IMG_2765.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i0uUkPJ7fuE/VSbpHq2G_5I/AAAAAAAADYc/cI5521vkNNo/s1600/IMG_2765.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The last few pictures are AI infantry. The grunts of the army are surprisingly tough little SoB's. Armed with Mag Rifles and a Micro X-Launcher for long range support. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These guys can handle themselves well in most situations, but a couple of units giving each other mutual support is a tough proposition for your opponent. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So there you have it, look out for a battle report against my very good friend Andy in the next day or two, and don't forget to read those articles on the link I posted earlier, you may recognise a couple of faces from this blog. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can read more about this army on my blog at www.facebook.com/jezspaintingblog </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><b>Turn 2</b> again saw Both sides advancing towards one another, with the USMC laying out plenty of pins on the Japanese rendering the return fire fairly infective, although the Japanese sniper and mortar were starting to make their presence know by killing a squad leader and zeroing in on the light howitzer. </span><br />

The Japanese mortar also proceeded to wipe out the Howitzer, leaving things looking grim for the Marines who again only managed to kill another few riflemen. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><b> Turn 5</b> involved the Japanese launching a Banzai charge and assaulting one of the remnants of my weakened US Marine squad, and killing them all, but taking casualties in the process. <span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><b>Turn 6</b> and the Marines managed to get their hands on the order dice, launching a devastating barrage of shooting, killing another Japanese Squad. although also failing to activate the other largely intact squad that was in cover. <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tBgTKGZTZGw/VP4R-6unbgI/AAAAAAAACzY/N4erwmbaXJY/s1600/2015%2B-%2B12" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tBgTKGZTZGw/VP4R-6unbgI/AAAAAAAACzY/N4erwmbaXJY/s1600/2015%2B-%2B12" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That's right guys and gals, the second 500 points are now complete which can only mean one thing, yes that's right, the 1000 points is done! In this picture you can see the additional units required to take it to completion, an M3 Lee, Bren carrier, and 2 sections of Gurkhas. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kCd62jizjNA/VP4R-zKfdoI/AAAAAAAACzk/nTmgglVkd_I/s1600/2015%2B-%2B13" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kCd62jizjNA/VP4R-zKfdoI/AAAAAAAACzk/nTmgglVkd_I/s1600/2015%2B-%2B13" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the first section of Gurkhas, 5 men all armed with rifles. They ride in to battle on board the Bren carrier, shooting the enemy up with the inboard LMG's before disembarking to shoot up the same target at close range before finishing them off in close combat (hopefully!)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TgG6fkM_xpQ/VP4R-8Xs8kI/AAAAAAAACzw/X5vXErMLrXI/s1600/2015%2B-%2B11" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TgG6fkM_xpQ/VP4R-8Xs8kI/AAAAAAAACzw/X5vXErMLrXI/s1600/2015%2B-%2B11" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A section of nine Gurkhas with rapid fire finishes out the infantry. So far these have proved a real thorn in the side of their enemies, being effective at range, very effective in combat and very tough to kill as they're veteran troops. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thinking about it I wouldn't mind an army of them!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b52KSIpbtTg/VP4R-647HhI/AAAAAAAACzI/LoXxvQuPVW4/s1600/2015%2B-%2B9" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b52KSIpbtTg/VP4R-647HhI/AAAAAAAACzI/LoXxvQuPVW4/s1600/2015%2B-%2B9" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The M3 Lee was an iconic vehicle of WW2, and although it fell out of favour in Europe, it continued fighting throughout the war in the Far East, it's thinner amour proving not so much a hinderence against their Japanese enemy's anti tank capabilities. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ALMGaNjo8bQ/VP4R-w3fUMI/AAAAAAAACy8/kUoQO_i2JiQ/s1600/2015%2B-%2B6" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ALMGaNjo8bQ/VP4R-w3fUMI/AAAAAAAACy8/kUoQO_i2JiQ/s1600/2015%2B-%2B6" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The universal carrier or Bren carrier was a utilitarian vehicle employed for many tasks in the Burmese theatre. This is a vehicle that I've toyed with dropping from the list on a number of occasions, however I've stuck with it and it's proved it's worth multiple times, most notably in its last game when 2 panzerfausts and a heavy anti tank gun round bounced off it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have now nicknamed her 'Impervious' lol. Besides, the Gurkha section would get angry if they had to walk now, and I don't want any angry Gurkhas thank you very much!</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The final pictures show the finished army all together and an action shot as they stalk through the Burmese jungle. </div>

<br />
Still to come I have a 10 man squad with 3 BARs, pistols, SMGS and bad attitude, a sniper team, a flame thrower team, a light howitzer, a medium mortar an MMG team, a medic, and the boss with this shotgun toting side kick.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ftyxWldlfwE/VODWK5S3h8I/AAAAAAAAAiE/MKA4ckF9BtE/s1600/P1080487.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ftyxWldlfwE/VODWK5S3h8I/AAAAAAAAAiE/MKA4ckF9BtE/s1600/P1080487.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a>When I put a force together I try to stay relatively historical, so I've left out anything like medium howitzers and vehicle flame throwers, and as I'm theming my force to the Battle of Tarawa I've even had to forgo the LVT's, at least for now.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lucZB-nGCw4/VODWKbRHSwI/AAAAAAAAAiA/fnrk1UF_FFs/s1600/P1080488.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lucZB-nGCw4/VODWKbRHSwI/AAAAAAAAAiA/fnrk1UF_FFs/s1600/P1080488.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a> I do have more BAR's that is historically accurate, however for me the iconic look to the US Marine in the pacific theatre is worn and battered clothing, and carrying a BAR with ton of ammunition and water.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CyGWp3lPY90/VODWLgO7xoI/AAAAAAAAAiU/I_uSyzPN3sk/s1600/P1080489.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CyGWp3lPY90/VODWLgO7xoI/AAAAAAAAAiU/I_uSyzPN3sk/s1600/P1080489.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a>I'm aiming to get these painted in the next week or so, but for now they are will have to suffer on in their base tone of Green Grey!<br />

Hello everyone. Just a quick update to let you know what's happening.<br />
The next 500 points to take it to the magical 1000 points arrived the other day, and today I got around to sticking them together and undercoating them ready for painting.<br />
<br />
The observant amongst you will notice it's slightly over 500 points, this is deliberate as it will give me a little flexibility when choosing my army lists.<br />
It consists of a Chindit flamethrower team, a light mortar team, PIAT team and BOYS anti tank rifle team, a 9 man section of Gurkhas, a 5 man section of Gurkhas, and an assistant for my lieutenant.<br />
<br />
Joining them from the motor pool is a Bren Carrier (for the small Gurkha section), 2 converted Matchbox Jeeps, and the jewel in the crown, an M3 Lee.<br />
<br />
I can't wait to get started on them and they will of course appear here as soon as they're done.<br />
<br />
Stay tuned for some rather exciting news regards miniatures for a new game by Warlord Games! All will be revealed soon!<br />
Any questions or comments, pop them below.<br />

Needless to say it will involve a fair few crazy kukri wielding Gurkhas, a couple more Chindits, and an M3 Lee amongst others.</div>

As such I decided to use Warlords plastic M4 model, and remove the applique armour, partly as it was simple, and partly because it was a good excuse to add the plastic Sherman to my collection!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">I picked Colorado as my subject as she had a particularly interesting history, landing on Red Beach 3 at Tarawa she was hit by an Anti Tank gun, but continued to operate, and even caught fire at one point. Never the less, she continued to function and by the end of the first day was the only functional tank of the 4 vehicles in 3rd platoon. More info about the Battle of Tarawa and the Shermans that took part can be read here at <a href="http://tarawaontheweb.org/usmctank.htm">Tarawa on the web</a> </span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">The kit couldn't be simpler to build, and I left the .50 cal machine gun off as the real vehicle didn't carry one, and also added an aerial from jewelers wire. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">I've left the hatches open as at some stage I'll have a commander peeking out. I completely assembled the model prior to painting, however left off the tracks and suspension until after painting was done. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">To paint Colorado I first gave an overall coat of grey auto primer then left the model to dry for 24 hours. Once the primer had hardened I sprayed Vallejo 896 Extra Dark Green into all the areas of shadow and recess. After this I then sprayed 887 Brown Violet over the entire tank. On top of this I sprayed 886 Green Grey over the upper areas of armour plate, and also all the upper surfaces. I then mixed increasing amounts of white paint into the green grey and misted these onto the upper areas of plates and details to really make them stand out.</span><br />

The model was again put aside to dry for a few hours.</span></div>

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-t1myOSsS374/VMTgw741GzI/AAAAAAAAAfc/LjOOeBCPzhA/s1600/P1080111.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-t1myOSsS374/VMTgw741GzI/AAAAAAAAAfc/LjOOeBCPzhA/s1600/P1080111.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a><span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">At this stage I used a sponge dipped in some gun metal paint to apply chipping to areas of wear and tear, and painted the elephant logo and name of the vehicle on the side of the hull. Despite the pounding Colorado received the photo's don't show an massive amount of wear and tear, surprisingly, so I kept mine relatively clean, just a bit dirty and chipped. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">The tank was now ready for weathering, so I applied some very thin Burnt Umber Oil Paint into the recesses of the tank, and the next day used Vallejo 217 Desert Sand texture paint to add the dirt and grime, by painting it on fairly thickly then quickly whiping it away again to leave streaks of dirt on the areas of most wear. At this stage the tank was done!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">Hi Everyone, following my piece on assembling plastic figures <a href="http://ataleofbeardedwargamers.blogspot.co.uk/2014/12/assembling-plastics.html">here </a>I'm now here to let you know how I paint my Marines, assisted by the second squad of my force. I didn't take step by step photo's due to time constraints, however I've broken down the instructions so that they are hopefully easy to follow!</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Tq9zXGdA1Y4/VLQ66AU6KxI/AAAAAAAAAaw/hcVUJRJC6p4/s1600/%24_35.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Tq9zXGdA1Y4/VLQ66AU6KxI/AAAAAAAAAaw/hcVUJRJC6p4/s1600/%24_35.JPG" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"> </span>
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><b><u>Priming</u></b></span><br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yaWwhaWF5ro/VLQ6hkzFBGI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/vzqnD6xhOyI/s1600/TELL-IT-TO-THE-MARINES.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yaWwhaWF5ro/VLQ6hkzFBGI/AAAAAAAAAaQ/vzqnD6xhOyI/s1600/TELL-IT-TO-THE-MARINES.jpg" /></a><span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">I use Grey Automotive primer for all of my models. Others are available but in terms of resilience of finish and reaction to the following layers you can't beat it. There are many types available but I use one from a company called SuperDec from my local hardware shop, and costs around £4 a can. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"> I find black or white primers create too much of a colour contrast and can have an impact on the paints being used over the top, whilst grey is a balanced neutral base. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><u><b>Step 1</b></u></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">Ok, after priming your figure and leaving it 24 hours to dry, I now paint on all the base colours of the figure. For my Marines I use the following Vallejo paints. Green Grey for the Uniforms, Middlestone for the helmet covers and webbing, Mahogany for the boots and weapon stocks, and Brown Violet for things like Grenades, uncovered helmets and entrenching tool handles. I use Vallejo Medium Flesh tone for the skin. and Gunmetal for the metallic parts of the weapons.</span><br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bsRMi36ALc0/VLQ6elNZDkI/AAAAAAAAAZo/wJM_wAQDxQc/s1600/P1070894.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bsRMi36ALc0/VLQ6elNZDkI/AAAAAAAAAZo/wJM_wAQDxQc/s1600/P1070894.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a><span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><b><u>Step 2</u></b> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">Now that you've blocked in all the colours give the figure a coat of Army Painter Strong Tone Ink all over, apart from the skin. For the areas of skin I paint them with Army Painter Purple Ink.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"> </span>
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><u><b>Step 3</b></u></span><br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EmWgLx-n7Bg/VLQ6eyNl7fI/AAAAAAAAAZ0/-rF3V8pDXi0/s1600/P1070897.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EmWgLx-n7Bg/VLQ6eyNl7fI/AAAAAAAAAZ0/-rF3V8pDXi0/s1600/P1070897.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a><span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">After leaving the figure to fully dry, which can take several hours, go back over the figure with the colours used in stage 1, but restrict those tones to painting them on the raised areas, leaving the shade in the recesses. I'd also recommend not going back over the metallic areas again, as we will be making that almost black ultimately. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"> </span>
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><b><u>Step 4</u></b></span><br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9hyCb8ot3RM/VLQ6guMRlNI/AAAAAAAAAaE/Vef_AvhkYSE/s1600/P1070901.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9hyCb8ot3RM/VLQ6guMRlNI/AAAAAAAAAaE/Vef_AvhkYSE/s1600/P1070901.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a><span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">Once you have done the base layers again mix in some white until you are happy with the contrast, I won't give ratio's or percentages as everyone's tastes are different and I tend not to be too precise about this anyway. Paint this over the highlight areas, but in smaller patches than you did with the base tones, the effect you are going for is to create a set of graduated highlights up to a very pale tone, by mixing increasing amounts of white paint in, and painting smaller areas of highlight. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><b><u>Step 5</u></b></span><br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8MmH3BkK5DE/VLQ6fh4ci9I/AAAAAAAAAZ8/meMFipNhSlw/s1600/P1070898.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8MmH3BkK5DE/VLQ6fh4ci9I/AAAAAAAAAZ8/meMFipNhSlw/s1600/P1070898.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a><span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">Now you have the figure higlighted you can either stop here and go onto basing, or if you prefer use more inks and glazes to really bring the figure to life. At this stage I paint the flesh tones with a slightly watered down purple ink again, and use a paint Army Painter Green Ink <b><u> </u></b>over the uniforms.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">I also paint Soft Tone Ink over the webbing, boots and Helmet Cover, and Dark Tone Ink over the metallic parts of the weapons. One this is done leave the figure to dry again.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span>
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7xjcSZaSQuM/VLQ6heioOyI/AAAAAAAAAak/qPc9_iWpmbA/s1600/P1070902.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7xjcSZaSQuM/VLQ6heioOyI/AAAAAAAAAak/qPc9_iWpmbA/s1600/P1070902.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a><span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><b><u>Step 6</u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">Now that you have re-inked your figure you can go back over the very highest points of the highlights with your final highlight tone and this will make the figure really pop as you look at it. You only need to do the tiniest of points of highlight for this to work.</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"> </span><span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><u><b>Step 7</b></u></span><br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3GBfJFda3pU/VLQ6iPXC_wI/AAAAAAAAAaU/Riowxwu9lE0/s1600/P1070905.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3GBfJFda3pU/VLQ6iPXC_wI/AAAAAAAAAaU/Riowxwu9lE0/s1600/P1070905.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a><span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">At this stage I paint the camo pattern onto the helmet covers using Vallejo Yellow Olive and Flat Earth, and also do the eyes by painting them with the highest level of skin highlight, and then putting a dot of transparent blue paint in them. You can quite happily skip this step though as eye's can ruin a figure in my opinion if they are too large or visible. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><b><u>Step 8</u></b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">You can now base your figure! I'll talk about how I do my basing in a later article when I put my weapons teams together, but for now check out Jez's basing article.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><b><u>Ready! </u></b></span><br />

<br />
My army is a bit different then the other's that are posting here. Since I really have vast array of models from all nationality, I thought, why don't I help a budding player in my area and get his army completed. So without further adieu, I would like to introduce you to the Waffen SS Army I am painting for my friend Sam Liebert.<br />
<br />
Same sent me a mystery box chock full of infantry and vehicles. I apologize for the dark pictures, but my office/hobby room is being used for storage that I am soon going to rectify.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tf5I7JH0wFA/VLQ3R4DybhI/AAAAAAAAEa8/HR9Xi7FLUg0/s1600/10569893_10205732138840835_1631644393_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tf5I7JH0wFA/VLQ3R4DybhI/AAAAAAAAEa8/HR9Xi7FLUg0/s1600/10569893_10205732138840835_1631644393_n.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a>First off we have Sam's Infantry. There are about 50'ish soldiers, including a mortar, MMG team, and sniper team. There is also a FT team in there and a mix mash of K-98 rifles, MP40's and STG44's. The miniatures are a mix of Warlord Games Waffen SS and BlackTreeDesign Waffen SS.<br />
<br />
Notice a few of them came off their base washers in transit, but that is to be expected after the long trip.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
Next came the vehicles. Sam gave me a Warlord Resin JgPz38t AKA the Hetzer. The Barrel having taken damage in route of shipping, again, as expected.<br />

Just an officer, FOO, sniper and MMG team to go!<br />
So what have you got done then I hear you ask? Well I'll show you...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wsOxpAR0xdM/VLLB-uaZSVI/AAAAAAAACa4/KrZMKHO7Ltw/s1600/Bearded%2Bgamers%2Bblog%2B-%2B1" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wsOxpAR0xdM/VLLB-uaZSVI/AAAAAAAACa4/KrZMKHO7Ltw/s1600/Bearded%2Bgamers%2Bblog%2B-%2B1" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In this picture is the army so far. It now consists of the section I had completed before, and two more small sections which I can merge into one if I need to. There is also a section of 10 Chindits armed with rifles and a Bren should I wish to field it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-El8Oy53MN1U/VLLB-s-8ugI/AAAAAAAACaM/TZay-47RL9E/s1600/IMG_2455.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-El8Oy53MN1U/VLLB-s-8ugI/AAAAAAAACaM/TZay-47RL9E/s1600/IMG_2455.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The British Indian sections are painted in the same method as before, English Uniform base coat, Khaki webbing, turbans and back packs, black boots and green blanket rolls. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These were washed in Army Painter Stong Tone and then highlighted with the original base colour, then done again with Skeleton Bone added to the highlight mix. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yZX6gzBgR1M/VLLB-qKdAfI/AAAAAAAACac/APvopqs9A_s/s1600/Bearded%2Bgamers%2Bblog%2B-%2B3" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yZX6gzBgR1M/VLLB-qKdAfI/AAAAAAAACac/APvopqs9A_s/s1600/Bearded%2Bgamers%2Bblog%2B-%2B3" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Chindits were done slightly differently as they wore green uniforms. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The main colour was US Dark Green, with khaki webbing and backpacks, black boots and a mix of English Uniform and Orange Brown were used for their slouch hats. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was agin all washed in Army Painter Strong Tone and highlighted in the same way as the Indian sections. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, there you have it. I will post some more when I've finished the 509 points, and I may even post up a battle report too </div>

Hey Guys,<br />
<br />
Jamie here; and this is the beginnings of my 1st SS army! I think Andy and Jez really set the BAR (see what I did there,) high for me and Brian this week: so be sure to check out their posts if you haven't already.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rEP3cr95hIQ/VJbhPOmWEII/AAAAAAAAAFE/S-cN6kzt5cc/s1600/Puma.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rEP3cr95hIQ/VJbhPOmWEII/AAAAAAAAAFE/S-cN6kzt5cc/s1600/Puma.jpg" height="134" width="200" /></a>I thought I'd use my first post to take you through the inspiration for the army, how I went about deciding upon a list and finally show my first unit. The first, and always most important, aspect of an army I look for is theme. I am not a power gamer, and the rich history of WW2 is what really gets me passionate about a project. I wanted to do a unique army that perhaps we do not see much of on the table. Warlord and Italeri were kind enough to oblige me with a theme with the recent release of the plastic Puma. This beautiful piece of kit was used by only a small number of units in Normandy, which is my primary interest after studying it at University. As I wanted to paint figures that would both push my skills and be fun; I decided on the recon regiment of the 1st SS.<br />
<br />
So with this in mind I quickly opened my Armies of Germany and set about creating a list I thought would be both thematic and fun to paint. You can view it <a href="http://boltaction.easyarmy.com/BAPrint.aspx?list=957223a4-6852-4fb4-a000-a646ca19bd8d">here!</a> I've already mentioned that I prefer painting AFVs so everything in my army has space within a transport; and I couldn't resist adding a kubelwagen to really give it that recce feel. I made one unit within my army pioneers due to my research indicating there would be elements of a pioneer company within the reece regiment, and also because I didn't want my themed army to be totally useless on the table! Smaller units mean my short attention span shouldn't be too stretched. The next thing was ordering my army, I went directly to Warlord due to their high level of customer service, as well as quick dispatch time! A couple of days later I had the following (quite scary for a slow painter like me) piles of resin, lead and plastic waiting for me! There's a few spares in there incase I mess up, as well for if I expand later on.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KjfIKC3XTfg/VJblx3wHoMI/AAAAAAAAAFQ/-A2WFKQEab4/s1600/Army.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KjfIKC3XTfg/VJblx3wHoMI/AAAAAAAAAFQ/-A2WFKQEab4/s1600/Army.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here is my first; humble, contribution to the blog. It's the unit of five guys with panzerfausts painted in a mixture of camo. There are two duplicates within the squad, however by painting them different camo, basing them different and also taking advantage of the warlord figure head system I think I have evaded my squad looking like something out of the clone wars. This unit is in my list for one simple reason: tank hunting. My main afv only has a medium AT gun, so I am hoping 4 panzerfausts will equal the playing the field. I see them as half of a squad, with the other half being my Assault Rifle unit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ngy5AYgGGxg/VKl_4trl93I/AAAAAAAAAQU/PM0xoWU0AqY/s1600/IMG_0918.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ngy5AYgGGxg/VKl_4trl93I/AAAAAAAAAQU/PM0xoWU0AqY/s1600/IMG_0918.JPG" height="338" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Y9twF5JxV1U/VKmAA7ubAII/AAAAAAAAAQs/5MwugxzSiTE/s1600/IMG_0931.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Y9twF5JxV1U/VKmAA7ubAII/AAAAAAAAAQs/5MwugxzSiTE/s1600/IMG_0931.JPG" height="200" width="146" /></a></div>
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-meIRKhPATA4/VKmAMGfnCiI/AAAAAAAAARE/XpaHwZBmvaI/s1600/IMG_0938.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-meIRKhPATA4/VKmAMGfnCiI/AAAAAAAAARE/XpaHwZBmvaI/s1600/IMG_0938.JPG" height="200" width="170" /></a>I'm really bad at taking photographs so I am sorry about the poor quality. I have a new camera on the way which will hopefully help with this. I will also be able to take some video show cases of each squad; but this will wait until I have something more substantial to show. These guys have been abit of a learning experience for me. I have been forced to accept that for a force it is better to concentrate on units rather than individual figures; in the immortal words of fellow beardy, Andy Volleyfire;<br />
<br />
<i><b>"Dude you're painting a force stop worrying about minor things, stop stripping figures."</b></i><br />
<br />
And from Jez;<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-U3Htv5Nzlfk/VKmAQFXFgtI/AAAAAAAAARM/ve0-Io56XK8/s1600/IMG_0939.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-U3Htv5Nzlfk/VKmAQFXFgtI/AAAAAAAAARM/ve0-Io56XK8/s1600/IMG_0939.JPG" height="200" width="134" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lgKTvOI5KrI/VKmAE8I3FuI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/w7gzSzYiUps/s1600/IMG_0937.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lgKTvOI5KrI/VKmAE8I3FuI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/w7gzSzYiUps/s1600/IMG_0937.JPG" height="200" width="185" /></a><i><b>"Dude you have a deadline, stick to it, no excuses."</b></i><br />
<br />
As I scrambled about for stripper, and also an extension. I also have some wisdom of my own to share; I have recently taken to using cellulose thinners to stop metal figures. Do not ever do this on resin and plastic! I now have a melted kubelwagen, as I learnt this lesson the hard way. I have really enjoyed painting this unit though, and experimenting with bases; also I have found mixing colors individually for each figure means that each figure has slightly different shades. I like this; as it it shows different ages on the uniform. As the 1st SS in Normandy were a mixture of new recruits and veterans from the eastern front.I am also enjoying mixing camos to really capture the look and feel of an SS unit in battle.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8E69ALwUjpA/VKmAUSXdzXI/AAAAAAAAARU/m5PtrnNVA1E/s1600/IMG_0942.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8E69ALwUjpA/VKmAUSXdzXI/AAAAAAAAARU/m5PtrnNVA1E/s1600/IMG_0942.JPG" height="200" width="175" /></a>My next installment for this SS force will be in a fortnight; I hope to have a couple of more interesting things to show you then. Maybe a hanomag, Definitely some some more SS infantry. But with me, who knows? Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year!<br />

Hello guys and gals. Since I posted my first British Indian unit last week I have received a number of enquiries asking how I did my basing.<br />
Well it's really quite simple, like most things I do. You simply need a few handy items which everyone will have to hand and away you go.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aE3VHER57Cc/VKAs8edKx-I/AAAAAAAACOI/51uI4ZPznJA/s1600/IMG_2416.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aE3VHER57Cc/VKAs8edKx-I/AAAAAAAACOI/51uI4ZPznJA/s1600/IMG_2416.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For this project I used the standard basing materials I would usually need like sand, PVA glue (white glue or Elmers in the US) and some paints. As this was going to be a little different from my normal basing I required a couple of different items to what I'd normally need. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Usually I'd use static grass but this time I wanted to use something to represent leaf litter, so after raiding the kitchen cupboard I found a tub of dried mixed herbs which was perfect for the job. The only other item I needed was something to represent jungle plants. For this I used some aquarium plants picked up cheaply from a local pet store. Obviously use plastic ones and not the real ones lol. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pack I picked up had around 6-7 plants in it asnd that will prove plenty, with lots of scope for different styles and colours. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pK6tbQBoYxQ/VKAtR5lxNLI/AAAAAAAACOQ/tHv318G0jxw/s1600/IMG_2418.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pK6tbQBoYxQ/VKAtR5lxNLI/AAAAAAAACOQ/tHv318G0jxw/s1600/IMG_2418.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
Start by sanding and painting your base in the usual manner you would do. Here I have gone for a dark brown, highlighted with mid brown then bone. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-piW8RWn-S2A/VKAtR-Ld9BI/AAAAAAAACOQ/OivaK-6czcM/s1600/IMG_2421.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-piW8RWn-S2A/VKAtR-Ld9BI/AAAAAAAACOQ/OivaK-6czcM/s1600/IMG_2421.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once I have allowed to paint to dry I stippled MiG pigments Vietnam Earth dry pigment powder onto it. Tap off the excess and seal with Matt varnish and allow to dry. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you have never used pigments before they are available online or from good local hobby stores. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Make sure you use them with plenty of ventilation or whilst wearing a disk mask as the pigment dust gets in the air and can be a little unpleasant without protection</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dlEwrGOrXA4/VKAtR92NKFI/AAAAAAAACOQ/LQHce01bX7E/s1600/IMG_2420.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dlEwrGOrXA4/VKAtR92NKFI/AAAAAAAACOQ/LQHce01bX7E/s1600/IMG_2420.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The next step is to get the plants ready for the base. I pulled one set of leaves off the plant and clipped a couple of fronds off. I did this with two different plants to give the base some variety</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-B-lTKVSEMHQ/VKAtR8WCZoI/AAAAAAAACOQ/9ew_uii_NqQ/s1600/IMG_2422.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-B-lTKVSEMHQ/VKAtR8WCZoI/AAAAAAAACOQ/9ew_uii_NqQ/s1600/IMG_2422.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I stuck the fronds to the base using superglue. To help adhere the fronds to the base I used a superglue activator. Sometimes this won't grip properly so you can drill a small hole in the base if it's plastic or wood to poke them in to or you can stick them to the base with a small blob of hot glue or you can make a little green stuff base to stick the frond into. Whatever suits you best really as it will depend on how often you will be handling the minis. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QF-qROyYIEI/VKAs8TARtBI/AAAAAAAACOI/FnE8aija5-U/s1600/IMG_2423.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QF-qROyYIEI/VKAs8TARtBI/AAAAAAAACOI/FnE8aija5-U/s1600/IMG_2423.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Finally I stuck the dried mixed herbs onto the base with PVA glue to represent leaf litter, and once dry seal with Matt varnish. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sit back and enjoy your handy work. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I will be posing a painting guide soon for the troops I've done too. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Until then, enjoy :D ~Jez</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xIkFjqRIyFI/VKBEyVOv95I/AAAAAAAAAXI/kG9GoeXzR6A/s1600/P1070650.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xIkFjqRIyFI/VKBEyVOv95I/AAAAAAAAAXI/kG9GoeXzR6A/s1600/P1070650.JPG" height="307" width="320" /></a>Hi all, with the Christmas Holidays upon us I suspect there could be a lot of people putting together their first plastic sets for Bolt Action (And any other game for that matter). As such I thought I'd share a few thoughts I have on the subject.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<ol style="text-align: justify;">
<li> Proper tools. Glue Glue Glue Glue Glue. I build probably thousands of figures over the course of a year and have learned that a pair of side cutters, a good knife and some plastic solvent glue are the most important tools around. My recommendation is this <a href="http://www.snmstuff.co.uk/plastruct-plastic-weld/">Plastic Weld</a>. It creates a very solid join, and applying a little with an old paint brush to each bonding surface melts the plastic a little and gives you lots of play with the posing before it fully dries.Humbrol and other modelling glues are similar, but not as good as a pure solvent. If you don't have some, get some. When bonding plastic to metal you want Superglue. Superglue for plastic to plastic will cause you endless frustration and irritation. Did I mention using proper plastic glue? No? Get some. </li>
<li> Proper tools. A pair of side cutters are cheap, here's an example of lots of types of <a href="http://www.snmstuff.co.uk/search.php?search_query=side+cutters&x=0&y=0">Side cutters</a>. The allow you to get the part off the sprue and without warping or bending the part in the process. When working on smaller parts like tools or pouches, I hold onto the part and clip the surrounding sprue away away along with the part still attached. This makes it far easier to trip the part without loosing it in the process. </li>
<li>Proper tools!!!! A decent modelling scalpel is another must have. They are also cheap, and are fantastic for getting rid of mould lines and sprue connecting joints. </li>
</ol>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There are other tools you can use, but to be honest these are the only ones I generally touch. I do have a pin vice for drilling small parts like aerials and gun barrels, and also some wet and dry sand paper in a few different grains for particularly stubborn sanding areas, though for the purpose of building figures these aren't so important.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xlddr1BZD60/VKBEoHBw97I/AAAAAAAAAWg/qHX5rGzJalA/s1600/P1050945.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xlddr1BZD60/VKBEoHBw97I/AAAAAAAAAWg/qHX5rGzJalA/s1600/P1050945.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a>When putting plastic figures together don't get hung up on thinking that parts have to go specifically with a body or that two arms always always have to go together. What I tend to do, especially on sets of figures with a variety of arms is just play around and see what works aesthetically for me. It's worth using the position of the feet as a guide to getting the figure to look natural. The feet pointing one way and the arms and head pointing in different directions tends to look subtly wrong to the eye and can be somewhat dissatisfying.<br />
<br />
<span data-offset-key="bkc8g-0-0" data-reactid=".56.1:4.0.$right.0.0.0.0.1.0.0.1.0.$bkc8g.0:$bkc8g-0-0"><span data-reactid=".56.1:4.0.$right.0.0.0.0.1.0.0.1.0.$bkc8g.0:$bkc8g-0-0.0">It's
worth assembling the model with a weapon in the hand that bears the
full weight of the firearm. This allows you to set the weapon in place in a
natural position, and then you can adjust the steadying arm around the
rifle. That way the model retains a natural pose and you don't have to
bend the weapon in to fit. If you don't want to attach the weapon before
painting you can still do this, but not glue the weapon into their
hands. Using the glue I suggest gives you the time to play around with
the model .</span></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SrN5D9Jju14/VKBEpP8Ma1I/AAAAAAAAAWo/9aGtRfsNABU/s1600/P1060475.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SrN5D9Jju14/VKBEpP8Ma1I/AAAAAAAAAWo/9aGtRfsNABU/s1600/P1060475.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a>Soldiers in the Second World War were trained to move either with their weapon at the port or trail positions, In the picture to the left are 3 Germans, the one on the far left is carrying his rifle at the trail, whilst the other two are carrying theirs at the port, so having your figures posed in this way can give your force a nice and subtley period look. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
When posing your firing figures try to keep them with the weapon tight to their body with the weapon tucked into their shoulders. I'm not a fan of figures running and firing simultaneously, so tend to save these for figures with their legs suitably braced or kneeling. </div>

The SS Officer here was built using a Warlord Plastic Blitzkrieg figure as a base, and then had a head taken from their late war German set. The smock was sculpted on using White Milliput. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Hi guys, this is the first update from myself. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The first 500 odd points turned up in the week and has now been constructed. As you know I will be constructing, painting and gaming with a British Indian army based in Burma during the late war period. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Two sections of Indian troops, a section of Chindits, a lieutenant, FOO, an MMG team and a sniper team. There are even a few left over troops and a Bren carrier for the next 500 points too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zmUFuBeZE4k/VJdBKc5Lp8I/AAAAAAAAALQ/j6gvIFC2NsQ/s1600/2014%2B-%2B1" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zmUFuBeZE4k/VJdBKc5Lp8I/AAAAAAAAALQ/j6gvIFC2NsQ/s1600/2014%2B-%2B1" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I finally managed to sit down and get a section painted up just in time for today's deadline. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First up is a section of nine Indian troops all armed with rifles. In their traditional british uniform they are resplendent in their trademark turbans of the brave Sikh troops that fought so well for the commonwealth across the globe, but in this case Burma in particular. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2Lla3qixW7w/VJdBKXof7II/AAAAAAAAALY/5VwTXT9379k/s1600/2014%2B-%2B2" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2Lla3qixW7w/VJdBKXof7II/AAAAAAAAALY/5VwTXT9379k/s1600/2014%2B-%2B2" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z6PE7MDkuDw/VJdBKTxnz0I/AAAAAAAAALU/U0jt-2u0aME/s1600/2014%2B-%2B3" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z6PE7MDkuDw/VJdBKTxnz0I/AAAAAAAAALU/U0jt-2u0aME/s1600/2014%2B-%2B3" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The models were a joy to paint up and were certainly a big change from the German troops I usually paint. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There are plenty of guides to painting British troops online so I won't bore you with the details here, but I will briefly mention the basing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After sanding, I painted then dark brown and then they were highlighted Skeleton Bone. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once dry I stippled a little MiG pigment Vietnam Earth on to them. I didn't want grass on the bases and after some research online I discovered that the ground covering was jungle leaf litter for the most part. I represented this with some dried mixed herbs, which had the unusual side effect of making the miniatures smell nice. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The jungle plants are bits of aquarium plants trimmed and glued in place</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xtcmR91yI0c/VJdBKY7EVqI/AAAAAAAAALM/hSTZZJ6e354/s1600/2014%2B-%2B4" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xtcmR91yI0c/VJdBKY7EVqI/AAAAAAAAALM/hSTZZJ6e354/s1600/2014%2B-%2B4" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So there you have it, more will be added to the force over the next few weeks, but for now, enjoy. :D</div>

<span id="goog_148380771"></span><span id="goog_148380772"></span><br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FM-Zoumq2N4/VJbBJAnTOyI/AAAAAAAAASs/HyEhI01Rwc8/s1600/enlisttoday.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FM-Zoumq2N4/VJbBJAnTOyI/AAAAAAAAASs/HyEhI01Rwc8/s1600/enlisttoday.jpg" height="320" width="243" /></a>Here goes, part one of collection my US Marines. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I decided to collect a United States Marines force following completion of my second Marine commission recently. The first I compelted in around April and consisted mostly of Warlord Games fantastic plastic figures.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jfPqX3RcPog/VJbA8-CHQkI/AAAAAAAAAR4/M9Zlpzow9IY/s1600/P1070649.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jfPqX3RcPog/VJbA8-CHQkI/AAAAAAAAAR4/M9Zlpzow9IY/s1600/P1070649.JPG" height="320" width="297" /></a> I was blown away by the quality of the models and decided that I absolutely wanted some for myself.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Sadly other projects came along and I never quite got around to them. After being invited to take part in 'A tale of bearded gamers' however the time seemed right and I rang Warlord and placed an order for some new shinies! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dpvGyXJvKZ0/VJbA_AtgmRI/AAAAAAAAASA/t5AiQAh8e7g/s1600/P1070650.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dpvGyXJvKZ0/VJbA_AtgmRI/AAAAAAAAASA/t5AiQAh8e7g/s1600/P1070650.JPG" height="307" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7yutet0OtZ8/VJbBI6_mDkI/AAAAAAAAASo/rpM9xsdwzH0/s1600/comic_us_marines_1943-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7yutet0OtZ8/VJbBI6_mDkI/AAAAAAAAASo/rpM9xsdwzH0/s1600/comic_us_marines_1943-3.jpg" height="320" width="234" /></a>Whilst waiting for my big box of treasure to arrive I planned out my <a href="http://boltaction.easyarmy.com/BAPrint.aspx?list=5f1623ac-2513-4668-b76e-dd9b89d3ef9d">US Marines Tarawa List</a> list so that I would have something to work towards. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jGlsXVR_YCg/VJbA26cLgoI/AAAAAAAAARo/IJFTfx2jHLA/s1600/P1070644.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jGlsXVR_YCg/VJbA26cLgoI/AAAAAAAAARo/IJFTfx2jHLA/s1600/P1070644.JPG" height="320" width="300" /></a>Normally when putting a force together I find a historical platoon organization and use that to build my army and fit that around the points values of my games without much thought to game performance. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-w70HpYhTfEI/VJbBAtUMA-I/AAAAAAAAASI/jQefx3AqsL4/s1600/P1070652.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-w70HpYhTfEI/VJbBAtUMA-I/AAAAAAAAASI/jQefx3AqsL4/s1600/P1070652.JPG" height="285" width="320" /></a>With this force I decided to do something a little more rag tag with the theme of the Battle of Tarawa as inspiration. After some research I decided to give each of my infantry squads some massive fire power through their BAR's. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NaVYUWxjyHg/VJbA3UddTCI/AAAAAAAAARs/Jjo1OcQsWEo/s1600/P1070646.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NaVYUWxjyHg/VJbA3UddTCI/AAAAAAAAARs/Jjo1OcQsWEo/s1600/P1070646.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a>I declined to add any support weapons heavier than MMG's and 1D6 HE as it didn't seem appropriate to a landing force.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I did go for a Sherman though after finding this awesome article on <a href="http://tarawaontheweb.org/usmctank.htm">US Marine Shermans</a> at Tarawa. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Over the Christmas break I'll make a start on the other 2 units, with the aim to getting them done by the time of my next update. In the next piece I'll discuss what paints and techniques I use for painting USMC, and also talk about how I do my basing. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Until then, Happy Christmas!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt;"><br />Welcome to “A Tale of Bearded Wargamers.”<br />Hopefully
you will see this blog fill up with painted miniatures, reviews and
maybe some battle reports too over the course of our hobby
adventures.<br />Our first project that is coming soon, is a joint
blog where we all paint up new 1000 point Bolt Action armies; but
more on that later. Firstly we thought we should all introduce
ourselves; in alphabetical order before Andy starts thinking he's
the most important! Also note examples of finished paint jobs from previous projects.<br />Please come back over the next couple of weeks
for articles introducing our new armies, plans and (hopefully) some
finished minis!</span></span></div>

I'm Andy, also known as Volley Fire Andy </span></span></div>
<div style="line-height: 0.56cm;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="color: #444444; font-size: 11pt; line-height: 0.56cm;">from various Forums.</span></span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 0.56cm;"><span style="color: #444444; font-size: 11pt; line-height: 0.56cm;"> I

kind either),</span></span><span style="color: #444444; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; line-height: 0.56cm;"> to become a full time professional figure painter. I
spend my spare time not painting off stumbling around as a historical
reenactor which means I have a pretty splendid collection of
references, especially when working on Germans. My own modelling
focus for the last year has been to collect a couple of German armies
for Bolt Action, but now it's time to branch out into something new! (Note: no beard in the image, Andy is more of a recreational beard grower when not acting soldier!)</span></div>

hardly think I need an introduction, as many of you probably know who
I am from the various Facebook groups and Forums. But It's me, the
one and only, Brian Ward, or as I am known to some, The Commodore.
Let's see, I was asked to participate in this blog by the most
wretched hive of scum and villainy. My background, let's see I
started painting miniatures in 1992 as miniatures for my D&D
games.Over the years I got heavily involved in WH40K where I had a
really cool all scout space marine force early on in third edition,
and I had a nice Eldar army at the end of my 40K days in 7th edition.
Over the years, I have played all sorts of miniatures game, then one
day, while searching the web I came across the game Bolt Action.I
dived into the hobby head first and have not regretted looking back.
I am from the great state of Wisconsin in the good old USA. I think I
am the only one of the 4 of us blogging not from the UK, so don't
complain if I call your Hobnobs a cookie, or my armor is lacking the
u. <a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0s7sL-7-Fp4/VI2-RCqcG1I/AAAAAAAAABk/PGwWHBobOaU/s1600/IMG_20141014_125305.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0s7sL-7-Fp4/VI2-RCqcG1I/AAAAAAAAABk/PGwWHBobOaU/s1600/IMG_20141014_125305.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nH8aTOdc6A0/VI2-RyA4-9I/AAAAAAAAABo/m3eSa1Rlx_s/s1600/IMG_20141003_094015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nH8aTOdc6A0/VI2-RyA4-9I/AAAAAAAAABo/m3eSa1Rlx_s/s1600/IMG_20141003_094015.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a> <span style="line-height: 21.1653537750244px;">Brian has been a long standing member of the Admin team on the Bolt action facebook groups; and has appeared a couple of times on the popular BAR podcast. you might remember me from the live battle reports on youtube that I

win many games! Hopefully that will turn around in the course of this
blog. Those who know me IRL know I suffer from a real low attention
span, and rarely finish one project before moving on to the next one.
Hopefully the other lads will keep me on course, and I might actually
play a game with a fully painted force (leaving my opponent in shock,

He will be completing a 1st SS recon force for his first contributions!<br />
